Dave Richmond is a native of Williamston, North Carolina. He graduated from Williamston High School in 1991. He then went to Lees-McRae College on a Theater Scholarship. After his freshmen year, he transferred to East Carolina University. He graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. While at East Carolina, Dave started his radio career at 91.3 WZMB-FM. He did the retro show, which was a request show that played 70’s and 80’s music.
After graduating in 1995, Dave worked temporary jobs in Greenville until landing his first professional radio job at Mix 94.3 FM in July of 1996. He would later work for the Talk FM 98.3, which was owned by the same company. In 1999, he moved to WPNC-FM Magic 96 in Plymouth. In October 1999, Dave moved to Elizabeth City to work on Groovin’ Oldies Kiss 97 FM. He did mornings on a soul station. In September of 2000, he moved to the classic rock station in Wanchese called 95.3 The Rock. He did afternoons until moving back home and worked as the program director for Magic 95.9 The Music Lover’s Station.
Then, in August of 2001, Dave went into teaching for Martin County Schools. He substitute taught and worked a semester filling in for a full-time social studies position at Bear Grass School. In October of 2003, started a position teaching deaf and hard-of-hearing kids at the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf. He taught high school social studies and coached football, basketball, and soccer. He stayed at the school for four years. Dave went back to school and now is a certified teacher in middle and high school social studies.
In April of 2007, Dave accepted a position back in radio with First Media NC, Inc. in Rocky Mount. Dave in his spare time likes to go to concerts, travel, movies, acting, politics, and playing music of course!
